Avia mounting height & coverage table

The supported 2m to 5.5m height range, how much each height covers, and how to measure it.

Mounting height directly affects how much of the entrance the device can cover. Installing outside the recommended range will result in missed counts or inaccurate data.

Recommended mounting height

2.0m to 5.5m (6.5ft to 18ft) from the floor to the device.

This is the calibrated range for Avia's detection algorithms. Heights outside this range are not supported. If your ceiling exceeds 5.5m, use a wall mount at a lower point, or a mounting pole to reduce the installed height.

Info: If a single device does not fully cover the entrance width at your installation height, install an additional device to achieve complete coverage.

Measuring the height correctly

The measurement method differs by mount type:

  • Ceiling mount: measure from the floor to the bottom of the device

  • Wall mount: measure from the floor to the centre of the device

Use a measuring tape, do not estimate. Enter the value in metres during device registration.

Placement rules

  • Device faces straight down (ceiling mount) or angled (wall mount) downward toward the entrance path.

  • Centre the device over the walkable area of the entrance

  • Do not install at an angle sideways

Locations to avoid

  • Directly under bright or spot lights aimed at the floor, which can interfere with detection

  • Facing reflective surfaces (mirrors, glass panels)

  • Near shelves, door frames, or metal obstructions that enter the field of view
